A multifunctional space intended for temporary exhibitions, workshops and labs, public meetings and conferences, educational and cultural activities. This room represents the museum’s dynamic heart, designed to host events and cultural initiatives able to engage citizens, schools, associations, and visitors.

Teach and hope

Dedicated to outreach, the recovery of historical elements, environmental education and awareness-raising on issues related to the protection of marine ecosystems. Through information panels, multimedia installations and interactive teaching tools, visitors can explore in depth: sea biodiversity, the importance of marine ecosystems, the problem of sea pollution, sustainable fishing practices. The aim of this room, aimed especially at schools and new generations, is to promote greater awareness of the relationship between coastal communities and the marine environment.

Starry sky

Before instruments and coordinates existed, fishermen raised their eyes: the stars traced the course, measured time, turned the horizon into a living map. Among them all, the Pleiades shone like a long-awaited sign. When they appeared, they foretold a change: a season beginning, a sea shifting. They were not just stars, but a silent language, learned over the years and kept in the memory of those who lived by fishing. 

Large memory

Dedicated to reconstructing the maritime history of the city of Milazzo and the traditions linked to sea trades. Particular attention is devoted to the history of the tuna fisheries, which for centuries represented a key component of the economy and culture of Sicilian coastal communities. Through objects, traditional tools, historical photographs and audiovisual testimonies, this section will recount: traditional fishing techniques, the organization of work in the tuna fisheries, the life of fishing communities, the work of master shipwrights.

Cradle of myth

Dedicated to the symbolic and mythological dimension of the sea. The sea is here interpreted as a place of mystery, passage and transformation, inhabited by symbolic presences and legendary figures. The room is conceived as a space of cultural interpretation, where the visitor is guided to discover the intangible heritage linked to the sea of Milazzo, rediscovering the value of local traditions and their bond with myth. 

Dives

One of the museum’s most innovative elements, designed to offer visitors a sensory and engaging experience tied to the dimension of the sea. Through immersive audiovisual installations, panoramic projections and sound settings, the space recreates atmospheres and scenes linked to maritime life. The immersive room turns the museum visit into an emotional experience, able to bring the public closer to sea culture through contemporary languages.

All the sea history

“All the sea History” is a multimedia work by Giuseppe La Spada that brings the great seascape painting masterpieces to life through Artificial Intelligence. The works of the masters of the past take on new life in a dynamic sensory dimension, able to bring new generations closer to beauty, history, and the protection of the oceans.
